Park East Synagogue

The Park East Synagogue, was built in 1889 -1890 by Schneider and Herter with a victorian preaching space and lively, intricate moorish-style façade.

In 1996, PRESERV won the Upper East Side Historic Preservation Award for its work at this synagogue, which was designated as a landmark in 1980.

Comprehensive exterior restoration of this house of worship included:
  • Brick cleaning, pointing and replacement using traditional methods
  • Patching and replication of ornamental red sandstone with combination of custom Jahn materials and precast concrete
  • Wood repairs
  • Decorative sheet metal fabrication and installation

The American Hotel - Sag Harbor, Long Island

PRESERV completed phase two of the façade restoration work at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor, Long Island.

New custom fabricated brownstone lintels and sills were installed to replace the deteriorated original stone from the 1840's. The brickwork was cleaned and repointed. In addition, the brownstone and brick cornice, with brownstone decorative cast stone, was rebuilt and fully restored.

Work will resume this Fall on the South façade.
