  • Park East Synagogue

- Located on East 67th Street

- Built in 1889-1890 by Schneider and Herter with a Victorian preaching space and lively and intricate Moorish-style façade

- In 1996, PRESERV won the Upper East Side Historic Preservation Award for its work at this synagogue, which was designated as a landmark in 1980

- Comprehensive exterior restoration of this house of worship included:

- brick cleaning, pointing and replacement using traditional methods

- patching and replication of ornamental red sandstone with combination of custom Jahn materials and precast concrete

- ornamental terra cotta restoration

- wood repairs

- decorative sheet metal fabrication and installation

- Project completed in the spring of 1996
